The story expresses a fundamental human need; to feel connected, to feel at home somewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the poems in this elaborate work is about the Phoenix \u2013 the mythical bird who dies and rises up from its own ashes, over and over again. From this imagery \u2018<em>The Song of Phoenix\u2019, <\/em>was born. Composer Shahab Azinmehr translated Attar\u2019s poetry into a lively musical interpretation. Together with Nathan Daems, Seraphine Stragier and Farnoosh Khodadadeh, they created a performance that makes Attar\u2019s words come to life in a rich landscape of music, song and poetry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are delighted to announce that on Friday night the 26<sup>th<\/sup> of June, the MEHRNAVAA-quartet will perform \u2018<em>The Song of Phoenix\u2019 <\/em>in Grand Theatre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shahab Azinmehr \u2013 setar, vocals, composition &amp; arrangements<br>Nathan Daems&nbsp; \u2013&nbsp; saxophone &amp; vocals<br>Farnoosh Khodadadeh \u2013 daf &amp; vocals<br>Seraphine Stragier \u2013 cello, yayli tambur, harp &amp; vocals<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Farnoosh Khodadadeh and Josse De Pauw \u2013 text and translations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The debut album of the MEHRNAVAA-quartet \u2018<em>The Song of Phoenix\u2019 <\/em>was recorded in the beginning of 2026. Their release-tour is set to be played in 2026-2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This program is part of the opening evening of Dichters in de Prinsentuin on friday the 26th of June, in Grand Theatre Groningen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandtheatregroningen.nl\/nl\/programma\/archief\/noordwoord-dichters-in-de-prinsentuin-2026\">Tickets are available through the website of Grand Theatre. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This program will be in English<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NEDERLANDS:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In de 12e eeuw schreef de Iraanse mysticus en dichter Farid ad-Din Attar <em>De Samenspraak van de Vogels<\/em>: een allegorische dichtbundel waarin vogels van over de hele wereld samenkomen in hun zoektocht naar een koning. Het verhaal vertolkt een diep menselijk verlangen: de zoektocht naar verbondenheid, naar ergens thuishoren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Een van de gedichten uit deze bundel gaat over de Feniks \u2014 de mythische vogel die sterft en telkens opnieuw uit zijn eigen as herrijst. Vanuit dit beeld ontstond <em>Het Lied van de Feniks<\/em>. Componist Shahab Azinmehr vertaalde Attars werk naar levendige muziek. Samen met Nathan Daems, Seraphine Stragier en Farnoosh Khodadeh maakten zij een voorstelling die Attar&#8217;s woorden tot leven laat komen in een rijk landschap van muziek, zang en po\u00ebzie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Op vrijdagavond 26 juni brengt het MEHRNAVAA-kwartet <em>Het Lied van de Feniks<\/em> naar het Grand Theatre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het debuutalbum van het MEHRNAVAA-kwartet \u2013 <em>Het lied van de Feniks<\/em> \u2013 werd in het voorjaar van 2026 opgenomen.
